- Now that VisCorp may be the new owners of Amiga Technologies, I'd like to
- see them make some announcements:
-
- 1. That the Amiga will be *THE* complete multimedia machine for the
- information super-highway (ISH);
-
- 2. That the Amiga set-top box will be the simplest and easiest access to
- the ISH for any consumer;
-
- 3. For a little more, the "Walker" will give consumers access to much of
- what the set-top box provides plus the ability to function as an
- independent computer; and,
-
- 4. That the Power Amiga will be the ultimate multimedia machine for those
- who want to be more than mere consumers of the ISH as they develop
- their own audio/video/text content.
-
- Once a clear scope is defined for the Amiga, all developers need to know
- is what hardware and software resources they can build on. It would be
- most helpful if Amiga Technologies coordinated efforts to get developers
- to integrate their products with one another by expanding on the Amiga's
- inter-process communications strengths as was done with ARexx.
-
- Perhaps AT could sweeten the pot by building new BridgeBoards (and/or use
- Emplants) with some new and improved Janus interface with all sorts of
- data exchange and conversion utilities. The least AT could do is to make
- their own state-of-the-art network communications cards to maintain a
- minimum standard.
-
- On the high-end (Power Amiga), work with NewTek and other such companies
- to keep high-end content development capabilities on the Amiga. Provide
- utilities to import and exchange data with other high-end platforms.
